A Collaborative Writing Model for Counseling Clinicians and Counselor Educators
Abstract
Clinicians who are interested in enhancing their professional identity through scholarly writing may face obstacles to getting published, including lack of time, lack of knowledge about the process, and lack of support. Collaborative writing can offer an efficient and effective way to increase scholarly output while benefitting from the creative synergy of a group. However, pre-planning related to group dynamics, power differentials, communication, process, and authorship can maximize a collaborative writing group's chance of success. This article outlines important considerations and specific steps for clinicians and counselor educators to engage in successful collaborative writing processes.
