Abstract

There is a growing need for beginning counselors to be able to effectively assess and respond to clients in crisis.  Stand-alone crisis courses are not always a feasible option for counselor training programs; however, using a case-based approach to crisis training may provide programs opportunities to infuse crisis training throughout the curriculum in a manner both challenging and supportive to students.  In this paper, two cases are presented which may be used to train begin counselors how to assess and respond to crisis using the Psychological First Aid model of crisis response.
